A cool part of building an ecological farm is that you get to learn the stories of so many interesting plants. This past month I have been watch the gourds and pumpkins with great curiosity. Tied to taking in all the observations throughout the season to make sense things is also reading up and understanding more about the plants. Who first grew them, what kind of systems, how did the plants move around. I find it interesting and certainly helps growing. I came across this interesting article on the gourd and how the latest in DNA testing has answered some long running questions about it. Check it out here.
